Officers spoke to an adult male (“Victim”) on the telephone about the threats. Victim told Officers he has known David Jeffrey Clickner, [DOB redacted] (“Defendant”), for some time. Victim told Officers he occasionally let Defendant stay in his heated garage in the City of Winona and provided him food. On December 19, 2025, Defendant asked Victim if Defendant could spend time in his garage. Victim was not going to be home, so Defendant told Victim he could not come over to his garage. Victim told Officers Defendant got upset and began threatening Victim over text message on December 20, 2025. Defendant told Victim that he should die.
Victim said, “You’re going to die for saying I’m a child molester.” Victim told Defendant, “You can’t even recognize all the good I’ve done for you,” and Defendant responded, “I’m going to burn your garage down for calling me a child molester,” and, “Your garage is on fire now.” Victim told Defendant that he was going to call the police. Defendant responded, “I’ll f****** burn your house down. Call the cops b****.” Defendant continued to send threatening messages. Defendant said, “You can’t break or burn me, call the cops.
I’m ready b****. I get laid every day the cops are always here. You sent the cops after me. I’m going to make things happen because you did that. I already knew Jacob said f*** you I’d have to fight you. Now here we are.” Victim told Officers that Defendant had a lot of issues that made him believe he could carry out the threats. Officers went to Defendant’s home to speak with him about the text messages. Defendant’s roommate let Officers inside the residence. Officers located Defendant in bed and determined he was extremely intoxicated.
Defendant provided a PBT sample of.23% BAC. Defendant admitted he had sent text messages to Victim threatening to burn down his house. Defendant acknowledged why these messages would be concerning. 2 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 12/22/2025 Defendant was arrested, transported to Winona Health to receive medical clearance, and then transported to the Winona County Jail without incident.
