On June 15, 2025, an officer was approached by a known adult female, Victim herein, who reported being sexually assaulted at an apartment located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] South in the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Victim reported that a Somali male later identified as ABDULLAHI NOOR SALAD, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, offered to give her a ride home after her shift at a restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. Defendant brought Victim [NAME REDACTED] at [ADDRESS REDACTED] South. Victim said Defendant left the apartment, and when he returned, she asked about a ride home.
Defendant told Victim she could stay with him overnight because it was late. Defendant offered to let Victim [NAME REDACTED], and he would sleep on the couch. Victim said about 30 minutes later, Defendant came into the bedroom, pulled her arm, and tried to kiss her. She told him no and said, “This is not why I’m here.” Defendant became aggressive, put his hand over Victim’s mouth, and said, “This is my house. You’ll do what I say.” Defendant pushed her down and got on top of Victim. Victim [NAME REDACTED] would harm her, so she said “OK.” Defendant removed Victim’s clothing and kissed Victim’s breasts.
Defendant put on a condom and penetrated Victim’s vagina. After Defendant assaulted Victim, Victim [NAME REDACTED] was tired and needed to work in the morning. Victim pretended to sleep then tried to call 911. She heard the dispatcher pick up the call. Victim [NAME REDACTED] said she must have accidentally called 911. Having heard the 911 call, Defendant apologized and said he was sorry. Defendant called Victim an Uber that brought her back to her work. Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim went to the hospital for a sexual assault examination.
Swabs were collected for DNA testing. Officers recognized the location of the sexual assault from a prior sexual assault that occurred in May 2025. Based on the information from those cases, officers obtained a search warrant for Defendant’s apartment. During a search, officers located among other items, a box of condoms, condom wrappers, and a switchblade style knife consistent with a knife described by the victim in May 2025. During a post-Miranda statement, Defendant corroborated Victim’s account that he met her outside her work and offered her a ride home.
Defendant claimed that he did not have any sexual contact with Victim [NAME REDACTED] has a girlfriend. Defendant provided a buccal swab for DNA testing. Subsequent DNA testing determined that Defendant’s DNA was indicated in DNA mixtures on Victim’s neck and breasts. Defendant’s DNA was included in a DNA mixture on a swab taken from Victim’s mons pubis. Given the nature of the charge, the State believes Defendant is a risk to public safety. The State is requesting a warrant issue with this complaint.
