Officer Callahan obtained the following statement from J. F., "I live in the downstairs of [the 600 block of Mound Street Southwest, Owatonna, MN, County of Steele]. I used to live there in a room with my ex-girlfriend, J. M. The room we shared is now a storage room full of her stuff.
I now live with her mom, T. K. J. B. And I have been arguing since we broke up. This morning, around 1:00AM-1:30AM I sent her a text message. I told her she needed to get her stuff out of the house. We argued for a bit and finally, I went to bed. I was lying on my stomach and I heard the door open around 2:00AM-3:00AM. J. B. And K. H. Were in the room. I told her I did not want to talk and I already gave her a chance and she did not take it. K. H. Wanted me to go outside. I said no and I went back to sleep.
All of a sudden I was hit in the back of my head with a hard object. I rolled over and I saw Peter Alan Woollard [DOB REDACTED] standing by the bed. Woollard was holding a baseball bat or an axe handle type of stick. It was solid wood, the thickness of a baseball bat and the length of an axe handle. He continued to hit me. He would raise the bat over his head and hit me hard with it. I was trying to block the overhand blows. I blocked one of the blows with my foot. I blocked some of the other blows with my left arm.
I could feel the blood coming out of my ear and my left arm and left hand is hurting. He hit me more than twelve times. He just kept continuously hitting me. I managed to get the bat out of his hands. He started punching me with his fists. I hobbled to the shower and washed off all the blood. I was too weak to stand so I laid down in the shower. I got out of the shower and crawled to the bed. I just wanted to go to sleep. I curled up the blanket and went to sleep. I woke up when T. K. Came in the room and saw all the blood.
She took me to the hospital around 6:00AM." While interviewing J. F., the attending emergency room physician came into the room. She informed J. F. He had an open compound fracture on his left forearm that required surgical intervention. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
