At approximately 9:59 A.M. On July 01, 2025, Buffalo Police Officer Andrew Hite was dispatched to Old National Bank in Buffalo, Wright County, Minnesota for a report of a suspicious person. A bank employee reported that a bald white man wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and boots went into the woods behind the bank, grabbed a backpack, and appeared to be on drugs. The bank employee said the man was on a blue bicycle. Officer Hite located the man, later identified as Randy Michael Johnston ([DOB redacted]) (hereinafter “the defendant”), at McDonalds in Buffalo, Wright County, Minnesota.
S. A. V. L. Told BPD Sergeant Lillehei that the defendant sat at a booth and dropped something out of his pocket. Sergeant Lillehei collected a glass pipe with a tube connected to the pipe from under the booth. Sergeant Lillehei spoke with the defendant, who admitted the glass pipe was his and that he had drugs in his front pocket. A small, clear vile containing a white crystal-like substance was located in the defendant’s right pants pocket. The substance later field-tested positive for methamphetamine and was sent to the lab for further analysis.
The lab report indicated that the substance weighed 0.281 +/- 0.022 gram and that the contents “indicate[] the presence of methamphetamine.” The lab report indicates that a confirmatory test may be done in the future. Methamphetamine is a Schedule II controlled substance.
