On January 18, 2026, at approximately 4:35 AM, officers of the Rochester Police Department were dispatched to a residence in SW Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota, on a report of an assault. Once on scene, Ofc. Wibstad spoke with Victim- an adult female fully identified in police reports. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was pregnant with the child [NAME REDACTED] Atchison ([DOB REDACTED]), Defendant herein. Victim stated that she and Defendant got into a recent fight and Defendant left their residence. Defendant then returned to their residence at 3:40 AM that day and was upset with Victim and was threatening to leave.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] was trying to calm down Defendant and to get him to stay. Defendant told Victim [NAME REDACTED] would hit her if she did not move aside, and pushed her with two hands in the upper chest. Defendant and Victim [NAME REDACTED] into their room where Defendant was screaming and acting erratically. Defendant was also yelling at his mother, Witness. Defendant threw a metal water bottle at Victim which struck the bedroom wall behind her. Defendant then approached Victim and pulled her to the floor.
The two wrestled on the floor and Defendant punched Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the face and the back of her head. Victim [NAME REDACTED] on the back of her head and was bleeding from the nose. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was using methamphetamine. Defendant also had assaulted Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Ofc. Wibstad observed dried blood in Victim's nostrils and a circular swelling on the back of her head. There was also a hole in the wall in the bedroom. Ofc. Bredehoft spoke with Witness. Witness said that Defendant and Victim were in an argument and she felt scared for Victim [NAME REDACTED] was acting aggressively and screaming.
Witness also said Defendant uses methamphetamine and is bipolar and has schizoaffective disorder. Defendant also broke a chair was angry and yelling. Officers were unable to locate Defendant, but were able to reach him by phone. Defendant admitted to the altercation, but said Defendant was the aggressor and more responsible for the physical nature of the incident. Defendant was convicted of 911-call interference in 55-CR-16-3604. Defendant was convicted of Misdemeanor Domestic Assault in 55-CR-23-6344. Defendant pleaded guilty to 3rd Degree Assault on February 23, 2026, in 24-CR-25-987. 2 55-CR-26-2200 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 3/27/2026 PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE.
