On November 5, 2025, at approximately 9:30am, Defendant Lizet Omana Duran ([DOB REDACTED]) called Columbia Heights Police to report her 17-year-old daughter J. S. As a runaway. Defendant stated that she had returned home early from work and found J. S. And J. S.'s boyfriend in the shower together. Defendant stated that there was an argument and she ejected the boyfriend from the residence, after which J. S. Took off running. At 10:50am the same day, J. S. Attended school and was seen with a number of injuries to her face and arms.
She had cuts, scrapes, and bruises on her face, and a bite mark on her arm. J. S. Provided a statement where she confirmed that Defendant had come home early and surprised J. S. And her boyfriend in the shower, and that her boyfriend fled. J. S. Stated that Defendant then yelled at her, and when J. S. Attempted to leave, Defendant grabbed her and began striking her with both a closed and open hand. She stated that Defendant slammed her head on the walls and floor, and that when J. S. Was on the ground, Defendant bit her arm.
Defendant then used both hands and applied pressure to J. S.'s neck, causing J. S. To lose her ability to breathe, to become nauseated, and to feel that she was on the verge of passing out. J. S. Then fought back and escaped the chokehold before running out of the house. She reported feeling scared that Defendant would hurt her further if she stayed. Due to the head injuries she suffered, J. S. Was then transported to the hospital, and police returned to the residence on Madison Street in Anoka County.
Defendant was sitting outside and was told that she was being placed under arrest. Officers had to repeat the commands several times until Defendant finally complied. Defendant declined to give a statement.
