On October 24, 2025, Brooklyn Center Police Officers responded to a vehicle theft report at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County. The reporting party J. K., the registered owner of a 1996 Ford Explorer SUV with Minnesota license plate [PLATE REDACTED], stated that his vehicle had just been taken. J. K. Stated that his roommate A. A., had a guest over. The guest was identified as JALYN MARIE PEARSON, Defendant herein. The Defendant had went to the Social Security Office in Brooklyn Center the day before and ended up staying overnight at A. A. And J. K.'s home.
On October 24, 2025, shortly before calling police, the Defendant suddenly insisted on being driven to south Minneapolis. A. A. Stated she could bring her but needed a few minutes to collect herself. J. K. Stated that he could not drive the Defendant because he had had a drink. The Defendant then took J. K.'s car keys off of the kitchen table and ran out of the house to J. K.'s Ford Explorer parked in the driveway. J. K. Ran after the Defendant and attempted to stop her from taking his vehicle. The Defendant nearly struck J. K. As she backed out of the driveway.
J. K. Did not give the Defendant permission to take his vehicle. A. A. Stated she has known the Defendant for approximately one year and was able to identify her through DVS pictures. J. K. Identified the Defendant to Officers through her social media. On November 3, 2025, the Ford Explorer was located on 12th Avenue North in Minneapolis. The vehicle was recovered with both plates, without keys, and new damage to the front bumper and a dent to the right side of the vehicle. J. K. Confirmed that this damage was not present prior to the Defendant stealing the vehicle.
J. K. Had only liability insurance on the vehicle and damage would be an out-of-pocket expense. The vehicle was towed to Minneapolis impound incurring costs to J. K. When he retrieved it. Before J. K. Could get an estimate for the damage, on November 12, 2025, the vehicle was stolen a second time between the hours of 1:00 A.M. And 6:00 A.M. The suspect in this second theft came to J. K.'s home, opened the garage door, and took the vehicle. The vehicle has not been located. The Defendant currently has active warrants and, therefore, the State requests this complaint issue as a warrant.
