Members of the St. Paul Police Department Gang and Gun Unit received information that VINCENT CELESPINO SANCHEZ-MYHRE – [DOB REDACTED] was in possession of a handgun while driving around in his red Buick sedan, and the individual knew he was unable to possess a firearm due to him being a felon. On September 15, 2025, investigators received information that SANCHEZ-MYHRE was driving in the area of Robert and Annapolis Streets. SANCHEZ-MYHRE’s driving status was revoked. At approximately 2:25 P.M., police located the red Buick parked at the Super USA convenience store on Annapolis Street in St. Paul Ramsey County, Minnesota.
Law enforcement set up surveillance in the area. An officer observed the Buick leave the parking lot and travel eastbound on Annapolis Street. As the Buick passed law enforcement, they confirmed the driver was SANCHEZ-MYHRE, and there was a passenger in the front seat. An officer in an unmarked squad activated the vehicle’s emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. SANCHEZ-MYHRE failed to stop and accelerated at a high rate of speed. Police did not pursue the Buick. While checking the area, police located the unoccupied Buick parked on Concord Street.
Police established surveillance in the area to monitor the Buick with the hope that SANCHEZ-MYHRE would return to the vehicle. After a few minutes, SANCHEZ-MYHRE and two other individuals walked toward the vehicle, and they were detained. A witness told police that the driver of the Buick walked into the wooded area near the parking lot and appeared to be carrying a dark object. When the driver walked back out of the woods, they were no longer carrying the item. Law enforcement officers, including a K-9 team, searched the wooded area.
The K-9 showed interest near a small pile of branches. Underneath some twigs, police located a firearm in a nylon holster and a bag of suspected narcotics underneath the firearm. The firearm was a semi-automatic Taurus 9mm with a loaded extended magazine. Following a Miranda advisory, SANCHEZ-MYHRE said he did not flee from police and did not know police were behind him. SANCHEZ-MYHRE acknowledged driving the vehicle and said that it belonged to a friend. When asked about the drugs and firearm located in the wooded area, SANCHEZ-MYHRE denied any knowledge of the items and said they were not his.
Presumptive testing of the suspected narcotics yielded a positive result for methamphetamine with a net weight of 7.92 grams. SANCHEZ-MYHRE provided a DNA sample. A DNA sample was also collected from the passenger of the vehicle, AAH. Swabs from the grips and slide serrations of the firearm were sent to the BCA for DNA analysis. On October 30, 2025, the BCA issued a report with the following DNA results: This DNA profile was interpreted as a mixture originating from four individuals. [AAH] is excluded from being a contributor to the mixture.
