That on January 10, 2026, at approximately 6:11PM, Officers were working contractual overtime at the Bloomington Walmart store located at [ADDRESS REDACTED], in Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Walmart LP Agent L. Atundu reported he had observed a male, later identified as being Damarion Lavellneal Williams [DOB REDACTED], select and conceal a pair for shorts into his jacket pocket. The male had been with a few other males, shopping. One of the males completed a purchase. Williams passed all points of sale and exited the store with the unpaid for Walmart merchandise.
Officers assisted LP Agent Atundu make contact with the male, who was told he was being detained for theft. The male tensed his arms when grabbed, leaving his hand in his right jacket pocket. He was told to bring his hands behind his back. He admitted to having the shorts and the shorts were in right pocket area. He was told he was going to be handcuffed. He was escorted to the LP office and handcuffed. He said that he had nothing else on him. The unpaid for Walmart merchandise was recovered, 1 item totaling $12.98. Officers asked him if he had any weapons on him and he said that he did, a "1911 handgun." He said that it was in his pants on his right side, where officers had been searching him.
He was wearing pants, 2nd inner pants and then a pair of underwear. The gun was located between his underwear and 2nd layer of pants. Officer Banaszewski was on scene to assist. The gun was in cocked mode, safety on and a magazine inserted. He said that it was loaded. Officers dropped the magazine which had 1 -.45 cal round and there was a live.45 cal round removed from the chamber. The gun was branded WITNESS, bearing serial #AE15952? Which checked clear when ran. Williams reported having a permit to carry issued out of Scott County, within recent weeks.
He said he did not have the permit on him, that it was in his car with other paperwork. Williams had a vehicle keys with him and we asked if he wanted us to check his vehicle, but he did not want us to enter his vehicle. Officers had BPD Dispatch check to see if Williams had a permit to carry and they could not locate one. Officer Banaszewski called Scott County Dispatch, to check their records for Williams and they located nothing on file. Williams was read and issued a 1-year Trespass Notice for Walmart.
Being that officers could not locate any records showing that Williams had a permit to carry. Williams was arrested. Officer M. Thul #328 arrived and transported Williams for booking at the Bloomington Police Department Jail Facility. Williams' vehicle, MN LIC# TLL128, a dark colored Dodge Durango, was located in the Walmart parking lot. Being that Williams reported having possible paperwork in the vehicle, it was impounded as evidence to the Bloomington Police evidence garage, pending a search warrant to find his alleged paperwork.
