At around 11:20 PM on June 29, 2025, officers were sent to the apartment building at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County on a report of gunshots. Officers developed information that a gunshot had been fired from [APT REDACTED]. Officers spoke to a woman who said she had been waiting for her husband in the parking lot. A white male emerged from the building with a woman who was screaming. The man pointed a black handgun in the witness’s general direction and fired once. The woman ducked and saw the couple reenter the building.
The woman drove to a gas station, made contact with her husband, and returned. The woman spoke to officers after she returned. Officers made an emergency entry into [APT REDACTED] to make sure nobody was in need of medical assistance. Officers found a bullet hole in the floor. Officers saw large amounts of money and drugs in plain view. The apartment was unoccupied. Officers tried to make contact with the downstairs neighbor to make sure they were okay. Officers again forced entry. Officers spoke to the downstairs neighbor who had been asleep and was not harmed by the bullet that entered their apartment.
Officers obtained a search warrant for [APT REDACTED]. Officers determined that the only occupant on the lease was ETHAN DANIEL FRANK MARKS [DOB REDACTED]. Inside a bedroom cabinet officers recovered a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun, a.22 caliber revolver, cash, and a bag of different pills. Marks’ student identification was located in the bedroom where the guns were found. Officers recovered a variety of drugs in the apartment. Officers recovered an AK-style rifle from the top of a wardrobe in the bedroom.
Building management said they have had complaints about Marks’ drug dealing from other tenants. The contents of one of the bags recovered from the apartment tested positive for the presence of cocaine and weighed 103.98 grams. The contents of another bag recovered from the apartment tested positive for the presence of cocaine and weighed 7.9 grams. The contents of another bag recovered from the apartment tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine and weighed 17.62 grams. The contents of another bag recovered from the apartment tested positive for the presence of fentanyl and weighed 18.99 grams.
