On March 3, 2026, at approximately 12:50 P.M., Officer Schroeder of the Austin Police Department responded to Walmart located at 1000 18th Avenue NW in the City of Austin, County of Mower, for a report of a theft. Officer Schroeder arrived and contacted Walmart employee, A. B. W. (an adult male). A. B. W. Stated that at approximately 6:42 A.M., a male, later identified as TRAVIS EDWIN IHRIG, DOB/060681, the defendant herein, came into Walmart and stole several items. A. B. W. Described the incident to the officer and stated that the defendant initially walked into Walmart and grabbed a cart.
The defendant then went to the electronics section and took a JBL Boombox (valued at $419.00) and placed it on the bottom portion of his cart. The defendant then walked towards the toy section and left his cart. The defendant then walked back to the electronics section and grabbed a Spiral Anten (valued at $76.14). A. D. W. Stated that the defendant then briefly left the electronics section before walking back near where the TVs are located. The defendant then grabbed a Phil 32in HDTV (valued at $118.00). The defendant then placed the TV into his cart and walked to the garden section of the store.
The defendant placed the cart with all the merchandise he placed in it at the north end of the garden section before walking out. The defendant then walked towards the home and pharmacy sections before briefly leaving. A. D. W. Stated that at approximately 6:54 A.M., the defendant is then dropped off at the side of the building before walking back into the store. The defendant then walks to the garden center, retrieves the cart with the items he stashed in it, and walks out of the garden center through the emergency exit.
The defendant then loads all the stolen merchandise into a black SUV before driving away traveling westbound on 21st Street NW. A. D. W. Provided Officer Schroeder security footage of the incident. Schroeder reviewed the video. A. D. W. Also provided Schroeder with an itemized receipt showing the total amount of items stolen by the defendant to be valued at $613.14. On March 10, 2026, Officer Schroeder was dispatched to Walmart again and provided updated information from Walmart asset protection employee, Y. T. M. (an adult female). Y. T. M. Indicated that they had received an email regarding the identity of the defendant.
She stated that the defendant had been involved in multiple thefts at Walmarts in the region. Y. T. M. Provided the officer with additional photographs of the defendant. Schroeder reviewed the photos provided and was able to identify the defendant as the male involved in the above-described incident. Officer Schroeder then contacted the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, the county where the defendant resides. Schroeder was provided with the last known address and phone number of the defendant. Schroeder attempted to contact the defendant with no result and was unable to leave a voicemail.
