On 05/15/2025 at approximately 1950 hours, law enforcement officers with the Minneapolis Police Department responded to a Robbery of Person call at 25th Avenue and Irving Avenue North, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Officers arrived and met with an identified adult male (Victim), who stated that he worked for a tow company and was contracted to pick up a vehicle that had been sold online. The contracting party purchases vehicles from private owners. Victim was instructed to come to the rear of [ADDRESS REDACTED] North to pick up a Mitsubishi Mirage bearing MN plate JWF555. Victim arrived in the alley and was robbed at gunpoint by three individuals.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] injuries to his hand. Law enforcement identified the three individuals through surveillance video, law enforcement liaison, and preliminary forensic analysis. There is surveillance from inside and outside of the nearby apartment building that shows the three individuals together. Law enforcement determined that HENRY HOWARD JOHNSON JR, [DOB REDACTED] (JOHNSON) first approached Victim and directed Victim to the garage behind [ADDRESS REDACTED] North. JOHNSON opened the garage and there was no vehicle parked in the garage.
ANDREW MICHAEL MARTIN, [DOB REDACTED] (MARTIN) and KENTRAVIOUS LABOIS COOK, [DOB REDACTED] (COOK) arrived and then Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim [NAME REDACTED] on the ground and assaulted by kicking and punching. The suspects took over fifty checks, four vehicle titles, and Victim’s iPhone. All three suspects left the area on foot. The three suspects were all seen together prior to the attack and were together during the assault. Based on descriptions, Victim reported that MARTIN pointed a firearm at Victim.
JOHNSON threw Victim [NAME REDACTED]. MARTIN and COOK were observed wearing disposable gloves. After the robbery, Victim [NAME REDACTED] in his tow truck when he observed the suspects driving a white GMC Envoy (MN SBY246) in the area of the robbery. Victim chased the vehicle and the suspects fled in the Envoy. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in a collision. All three suspects subsequently fled on foot after the crash. The Envoy is believed to be owned by JOHNSON’s girlfriend. At approximately the same time, law enforcement deputies with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office located the Envoy near the intersection of Logan Ave N and Broadway Ave in Hennepin County traveling with a broken taillight.
Law enforcement briefly lost sight of the vehicle, but then observed a dark-skinned black male, with long black dreadlocks, wearing a tan hoodie, light blue jeans, dark sneakers and light blue surgical gloves laying in the middle of the street. This individual has been identified as COOK. COOK was stumbling as if he was injured. COOK had a black firearm in his left hand with an extended magazine. COOK saw law enforcement and ran beside [ADDRESS REDACTED] N. Law enforcement gave loud commands telling the COOK to drop the gun, but COOK did not comply.
