On May 27, 2025, at around 9:00 A.M., Investigator Hamblin was conducting surveillance at the rear of [ADDRESS REDACTED] on DANIEL ROBERT PAUL, [DOB REDACTED]. PAUL had active warrants-Washington County warrant for two counts of VOCSL 5th Degree, GM DWI, and Misdemeanor DWI; and a Dakota County misdemeanor warrant for Violation of Domestic Abuse Order. PAUL’s driver’s license status was revoked. PAUL carried a black handbag/satchel across his chest while walking around in the rear of [ADDRESS REDACTED]. A gray Mercedes was parked in the area.
PAUL opened the hood of the vehicle and placed a bag on the passenger’s side of the engine compartment. PAUL then entered the driver’s seat of the vehicle. A female exited the house and entered the passenger’s seat. The vehicle drove away. Officers followed PAUL. At approximately 10:03, Saint Paul Officers observed PAUL driving the Mercedes west on Aguirre Avenue, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey. PAUL turned south on Payne Avenue without signaling and made a quick left hand turn into the apartment complex at 650 Aguirre.
The vehicle was stopped and officers approached. PAUL was the driver and NS was the passenger of the vehicle. NS said PAUL noticed the police following him and told her. PAUL was upset that he was stopped and was sweating profusely. PAUL was arrested. Currency in the amount of $1, 446 was found on PAUL during a search. The vehicle was towed to the LEC. Officers obtained a search warrant to search the vehicle. During the search, a black handbag/satchel was found secured in the engine compartment of the vehicle above the right front tire.
Inside the bag, there was suspected methamphetamine; six orange pills; six blue/green pills; and a white iPhone. The orange pills were identified as Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine 20 mg, 26 dosage units. The blue/green pills were identified as Sildenafil, 6 dosage units. Item #6 was presumptively tested, labeled suspected methamphetamine, result positive methamphetamine, net weight 107.92 grams. On May 28, 2025, PAUL spoke to an investigator. PAUL said the methamphetamine in his satchel was his.
He placed it in the hood of the vehicle because he knew he had warrants for his arrest. He did not want the police to find it if he was stopped by them. He sells an ounce for between $200-$300, and has been selling for a couple of months. He buys from the same supplier twice a week, usually ¼ to ½ pound at a time. In court file 62-CR-18-1415, PAUL was convicted of VOCSL 5th Degree, felony conviction 8/16/2018.
