On April 27, 2026, at approximately 7:53 A.M., a Chisago County Sheriff Sergeant received a license plate reader alert, which notified of a stolen trailer that was being towed near an intersection of O'neill Avenue and Fourth Street in Rush City, Chisago County, Minnesota. The Sheriff Sgt. Confirmed the trailer had been stolen from Fridley on 04/21/2026. The Sheriff Sgt. Observed the truck and stolen trailer parked at a gas station off the I-35 exit for Rush City. The Sheriff Sgt. Observed a male party exit the gas station and get into the driver's door of the silver truck pulling the enclosed trailer.
The Sheriff Sgt. Activated the emergency lights on his squad car and stopped the silver truck. The driver identified himself as Wesley Allen Robinson [DOB REDACTED], herein Defendant, by a Minnesota ID card. Defendant's driving privileges were cancelled. Defendant also had two active warrants for his arrest. With the assistance of additional Deputies, Defendant was placed under arrest. Defendant had a bindle of tinfoil in his front shirt pocket. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 1.43 grams.
Deputies located two motorcycles in the bed of the truck, along with miscellaneous other items. One Honda motorcycle, with license plate [PLATE REDACTED], was identified as stolen from Minneapolis on 01/12/2026. The enclosed trailer contained bags of garbage, broken sofas, and drywall. The Sheriff Sgt. Spoke with Defendant in the back of a squad car. After being read the Miranda advisory, Defendant agreed to provide a statement. Defendant stated the truck he was driving belonged to his girlfriend's son.
When asked where the owner lived, Defendant stated he was not sure, he might be in treatment. When asked about the stolen trailer, Defendant stated he was hauling the trailer as a favor for someone. When asked who, Defendant struggled to provide an answer. At first he indicated he was not sure, but then later said he knew the person for a long time, then later stated the person's name was Kelsey. When asked where he was hauling the trailer to, Defendant stated he was just following someone. Defendant then struggled to say what type of vehicle, or where he was following the person to.
Defendant stated it might have been a blue mid-sized vehicle. The Sheriff Sgt. Checked cameras in the area and did not locate any blue vehicle travelling near the truck and trailer. The Sheriff Sgt. Also had been parked in the area and never saw a blue vehicle near the truck and trailer. The stolen enclosed trailer has a value of approximately $5,000. The stolen Honda motorcycle has a value of approximately $4,000. Defendant has convictions for controlled substance crime in the fifth degree in Carlton County on July 15, 2022 (court file ••-CR-••-••••) and January 27, 2023 (court file ••-CR-••-••••), and Pine County on November 29, 2023 (court file ••-CR-••-••••).
