On February 5, 2025, at approximately 9:25 P.M., Officer Aase was traveling east on County Road H, Mounds View, County of Ramsey, when he observed a vehicle-Chevrolet Malibu- drive through the stop sign. Officer Aase followed the vehicle and observed it drive through a red light. Officer Aase activated emergency lights, and initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot of Taco Bell, [ADDRESS REDACTED]. JASMINE SYMONE MAYS, [DOB REDACTED], was the driver. She said she did not see the stop sign, but admitted driving through the red light.
MAYS’s child (four-year-old) was lying in the back seat of the vehicle, and not in a car seat. Officer Aase noted a strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle and a package of marijuana-that appeared open- next to the shifter. An empty bottle of Don Julio tequila was on the front passenger seat. MAYS said the bottle of alcohol was her sister’s. Officer Aase conducted a search of the vehicle. MAYS said there was some marijuana in her vehicle. She also said her boyfriend left something else in the vehicle-a bunch of colorful pills in the glove box that she did not know were there.
During the search, in the center console, Officer Aase found a clear plastic baggie with multiple different colored pills inside. After a Miranda advisory, MAYS spoke to Officer Aase. MAYS said the pills were her boyfriend’s. She and her boyfriend have been sharing the vehicle since her vehicle was impounded. She was leaving in the morning and noticed the bag of pills in the vehicle. MAYS told her boyfriend the pills were in the vehicle, but she did not remove them. She said the pills were in the glove box.
When asked the boyfriend’s name, MAYS said she only knows him by his street name, “24.” They have been dating for approximately eight months, but she did not know his real name. MAYS provided a phone number for her boyfriend. The BCA Report dated March 10, 2026, reported item 1, one plastic bag containing evidence classified as tablet, amount.621, containing methamphetamine (2 of 38 tablets analyzed).
