On July 14, 2025, EL reported the theft of her Glock 19 firearm, Dodge Center, Minnesota, from the trunk of her vehicle. EL said she had recently traveled to Saint Paul and Duluth. On August 12, 2025, at approximately 1:40 A.M., Officer Rushton was patrolling northbound Snelling Avenue at Larpenteur Avenue, Falcon Heights, County of Ramsey, when he observed a black Honda Accord at the stop light eastbound Larpenteur, with no license plate and with high beam lights on. The vehicle continued to drive, and stopped the car in a no parking zone on northbound Snelling Service Drive.
Officer Rushton activated emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop. As Officer Rushton approached the vehicle, the driver and front seat passenger began to dig around toward the center console and the back seat. Upon initial contact, the driver-ARMANI ADDISON, [DOB REDACTED] (identified self with high school identification card) -said he and his sister purchased the vehicle. Officer Rushton observed raw cannabis on ADDISON’s pants. There was an overwhelming odor of burnt cannabis from inside the vehicle.
Officers opened the front door of the vehicle. Officer Rushton observed a loaded firearm magazine on the floor, directly in front of ADDISON’s feet. There were twenty 9mm rounds inside the magazine. There were three people in the vehicle-ADDISON, front seat passenger KJ, and back seat passenger juvenile J1. They were ordered out of the vehicle. All three occupants of the vehicle were under the age of twenty-one. The vehicle was searched. There was a black backpack on the back seat. A firearm-Glock 19 (EL’s reported stolen firearm) with laser/flashlight affixed-fell onto the ground as Officer Rushton picked up the backpack.
There was a large quantity of raw cannabis flower (41.72 grams), a scale, and several new empty plastic baggies with a currency printed on them inside the backpack. Currency in the amount of $4, 056 was found in the center console. KJ and J1 declined an interview. After a Miranda advisory, ADDISON spoke to Officer Rushton. He said he and his sister purchased the vehicle. He was headed to an address on Arcade in Saint Paul when he was stopped. ADDISON admitted not using his turn signal when turning onto Snelling Avenue.
When asked about the gun magazine, ADDISON said his sister’s boyfriend, Zachary, left his gun, magazine, and other items in the car. Zachary asked him to hold onto it. Later in the conversation, ADDISON said he knew nothing about the gun. During the conversation, ADDISON asked for his backpack. Officer Rushton obtained search warrants for a DNA sample from ADDISON, KJ, and J1. DNA samples were obtained. The BCA Report dated 9/26/2025 reported Item 1A, swabbing from item (textured areas of grips, slide serrations, buttons, front of trigger guard, light attachment), DNA profile interpreted as mixture originating from four individuals, major DNA profile matches AMARI ADDISON; does not match KJ or J1. The probability of observing this DNA profile is greater than 100 billion times more likely if a mixture of DNA from AMARI ADDISON and three unknown, unrelated individuals is the source than if a mixture of DNA from four unknown, unrelated individuals is the source. 2 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 12/12/2025 The BCA Report dated 9/26/2025 reported, Item 2A (edges of the base and feeder), interpreted as a mixture originating from three individuals, major DNA profile matches AMARI ADDISON; does not match KJ or J1.
