On February 19, 2026, law enforcement was dispatched to a residence in the City of Sauk Centre, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota for a report of a domestic assault. Sgt. Von Wahlde made contact with A. A.M., fully identified in police reports. A. A.M. Was on the floor in the bathroom crying. A. A.M. Had multiple injuries that includes a large black and blue bruise above her left eye, swelling and bruising on her right wrist, several scratches on her neck, swelling in the back of her head, and slight redness on her right abdomen.
Paramedics arrived and A. A.M. Went to the hospital A. A.M. Reported she came home and confronted Lennon Vincent McDermott, [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein, about his drinking. Defendant became enraged. Defendant punched A. A.M. In the head, stomped her head, kicked her in the stomach, and strangled her. A. A.M. Reported she was screaming for help hoping a neighbor would hear her. Defendant stood in front of the door and told A. A.M. That if she went to get help he will kill her. A. A.M. Got between defendant and the door to get out and that is when defendant threw A. A.M. Up against the door and choked her.
A. A.M. Reported when defendant strangled her she felt like she was going to black out and could not breathe. After strangling her, defendant threw her on the couch and kicked her in the abdomen. A. A.M. Went to the neighbor's apartment to call 911. In a Mirandized statement, defendant reported A. A.M. Threw a bag of garbage on him and said they needed to have a conversation. Defendant got up into A. A.M.'s face and she slapped him. Defendant then punched her several times with a closed fist with his right hand.
He reported he used his right fist because he is right handed and cannot punch with his left hand. Defendant reported the physical altercation continued closer to the door and they both grabbed each other's necks. Defendant heard A. A.M. Say she could not breathe so he let go because he "did not want to kill her." Defendant reported he punched A. A.M. In the head by the door several more times. A. A.M. Went to the neighbors apartment and called 911. A. N. R., fully identified in police reports, reported A. A.M. Was banging on her door.
A. A.M. Told A. N. R. That defendant stomped her head in. Defendant and A. A.M. Are family or household members. Complainant has reason to believe and does believe that all of the above information is true and correct. The above facts constitute your complainant's basis for believing that the above-named defendant, on or about the 19th day of February, 2026, in the City of Sauk Centre, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota, committed the offense(s) described herein.
