On January 17, 2026, approximately around 4:30 A.M., Minneapolis Police Officers were dispatched on reports of a burglary of a business located at the 700 block of Washington Avenue in Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the reporting party "Witness" herein. Witness told officers they were watching live surveillance footage and observed an unknown male on the fourth floor of the building. The unknown male was rummaging through items in the office and a key fob box.
Surveillance footage also shows the unknown letting another individual inside of the building and wandering around. Witness provided a photograph of the unknown male to responding officers. Witness confirmed she had never seen the unknown male or the other individual at the business before. Officers proceeded to the fourth floor and observed an individual matching the description of the unknown male from the photograph. Officers made contact with the unknown male. The unknown male identified himself to officers using a false name.
The unknown male was unable to produce any form of identification. The unknown male told officers he recently moved and was unable to recall his address. The unknown male told officers he was a contractor hired by the company and was requesting access to his office so that he could work overnight. Business staff were unable to confirm the unknown male's employment with the business. Building staff informed officers the unknown male had potentially stolen items from the business. Officers observed the unknown male was wearing a backpack that was bearing the company logo of one of the businesses within the building.
Building staff requested the unknown male to leave the business. Officers eventually identified the unknown male as HARRISON BA NGUYEN [DOB REDACTED] "Defendant" herein. A search of the Defendant revealed two bottles of wine, water bottles, a thermos bottle and a backpack. Building staff confirmed the items belonged to the business. Defendant placed under arrest and transported to the Hennepin County Jail. In a post-Miranda statement, Defendant admitted to giving officers a false name. Defendant also admitted that he was not a contractor for the business.
Defendant told officers he entered the building on the morning of January 17th. Defendant also invited his friend to enter the building. Defendant admitted to taking items from the business. At present, Defendant is in custody.
