He initiated a traffic stop near Lake Street South and Monore Street in the City of Big Lake, Sherburne County, Minnesota. He identified the driver as ALEXA ROSE HESSE, [DOB REDACTED], the above‐named defendant. He immediately noticed the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and the Defendant’s breath. He also saw that she had glossy eyes. The Defendant said she was coming from a bar and that she’d had about a beer and a half at 9:00 PM. Officer Asfeld ran the Defendant’s driver’s license and learned that her license status was revoked and she had a prior DWI from 2019 in Wisconsin.
Officer Asfeld asked the Defendant to perform FSTs and she agreed. The Defendant did the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test, the Walk and Turn Test, and the One Leg Stand Test, and she displayed signs of impairment on each. She provided a breath test to the PBT and it showed her BAC was 0.107. The Defendant was arrested for suspicion of DWI and transported to the Big Lake Police Department. There, she was read the Minnesota Breath Test Advisor and agreed to provide a breath test. At approximately 1:09 AM, she provided a breath sample that showed her BAC was 0.10. A review of the Defendant’s driving record shows one prior DWI conviction in Wisconsin in November of 2019. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
