M., Officer Asfeld was on patrol on highway 10 near the intersection of Eagle Lake Road, Sherburne County, MN, when he observed two individuals crossing highway 10 without using the crosswalk. Officer Asfeld noted that the individuals were walking through the right-hand lane in a manner that obstructed vehicle traffic, noting that a vehicle had to come to a near complete stop to avoid hitting the individuals. Officer Asfeld also note that the individuals were also dressed in black. Officer Asfeld then activated his emergency lights and made contact with the two individuals.
Officer Asfeld attempted to identify both individuals, stated they did not have identification on their person. Officer Asfeld noted that both individuals matched the description of individuals that were involved in a vehicle pursuit in Wright County earlier that evening. Officer Alfeld noted that the female, later identified as KARISSA ANN KUYKENDALL, [DOB REDACTED] [hereinafter defendant] had been caught on camera fleeing from the vehicle in Wright County wearing the same clothing as this female individual.
As Officer Asfeld continued speaking with both individuals, the male individual then became argumentative and fled on foot. Sergeant Chaffee arrived on scene and witnessed the male individual flee from Officer Asfeld and the defendant attempt to run away. Sergeant Chaffee commanded the defendant to stop, and the defendant complied. Defendant advised Sergeant Chaffee that she had a razor blade in her front pocket and upon retrieving the razor blade, Sergeant Chaffee observed silver tinfoil with a dark brown tarry substance in which he believed to be heroin/fentanyl.
The defendant then admitted to law enforcement that the substance was Fentanyl, which was later field tested and rendered positive for Fentanyl. The substance was sent to Midwest Laboratory for confirmation. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
