On May 6, 2025, M. L-. J. Made a report at the Anoka County Sheriff's Office about multiple instances of nonconsensual sexual intercourse that she had experienced by her husband, Defendant Jacob Benjamin Jonas [DOB REDACTED]. This report was made a few weeks after M. L-. J.'s child had disclosed to her and to law enforcement that Defendant had been sexually abusing her. At the time, M. L-. J. Had indicated that she had also been sexually mistreated, but kept the focus on her child. This follow-up report was then scheduled, and her statement was taken.
M. L-. J. Reported that she and Defendant had been married in May 2016, and that beginning approximately one month after their marriage, while they were in Coon Rapids, Defendant would force her to have intercourse even when she refused. She recalled that the first time it happened, she and Defendant had been watching a TV show prior to bed, and Defendant wanted to reenact a sexual scene. M. L-. J. Refused and tried to go to sleep, but Defendant persisted and eventually forcefully penetrated her.
She stated that similar conduct happened very frequently in the marriage, and that approximately 50% of the time they had intercourse, M. L-. J. Did not consent. M. L-. J. Recalled another specific incident where she had been hospitalized in Cambridge Medical Center for severe pneumonia in 2019. Defendant came to visit her and waited until the rest of her family had left before forcing M. L-. J. To perform oral sex on him. M. L-. J. Was severely weakened by the pneumonia and was unable to fight Defendant off or call for helP.M. L-. J. Stated that the last time this happened was shortly after Christmas in 2024, while they were living in Andover.
Like other incidents, Defendant forcibly penetrated M. L-. J. Without her consent. M. L-. J. Recalled feeling relieved that it had only happened three times that year. Defendant has a pretrial at 8:30am on December 31, 2025, for 02-CR-25-2521. It is respectfully recommended that this matter be tracked for arraignment on the same date.
