11/27/1968 (57), violated the law as set forth herein. On January 17, 2026, at approximately 6:22 PM, Officer Nathaniel Larson received a report of a possible assault, with the victim located at Alomere Emergency Room with a broken arm. Off. Larson responded to Alomere Emergency Room and made contact with the victim, [NAME REDACTED]. The victim reported that earlier that evening at her residence, located at 416 6th Avenue East, Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota, she was assaulted by her daughter-in-law, Lyn Marie Nord (“the Defendant”). The victim [NAME REDACTED] in a multi-unit home, and that her son, William Nord, and the Defendant had been residing in the basement unit until the family discovered black mold.
Mr. Nord has lung-related medical issues and requires oxygen at all times. She had been asking the Defendant to remove furniture so the basement could be cleaned. This turned into a verbal argument, and the Defendant became upset. The Defendant then pushed the victim, [NAME REDACTED]. The victim [NAME REDACTED] is 82 years old and was advised by medical staff that she had a broken bone in her wrist. Medical records confirm that the victim was evaluated and diagnosed with a left distal radius fracture due to injury from the fall.
Officers then responded to the victim's residence to speak with the Defendant and Mr. Nord. When officers announced themselves, the Defendant came to the door crying and shouting. Officers made contact with Mr. Nord and entered the residence. The Defendant sat down, said she was sorry, and reported experiencing stress related to her mother being hospitalized, her father passing away approximately one year earlier, and Mr. Nord’s health issues. Mr. Nord confirmed that he observed part of the incident.
He stated that the victim [NAME REDACTED] had been arguing in the kitchen about moving furniture out of the basement. The Defendant then walked toward the front of the house, and the victim followed while continuing to argue. The Defendant then turned to the victim with her hands raised towards the victim. The Defendant was arrested for Domestic Assault and transported to the Douglas County Jail. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 609.49, intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
