On April 9, 2026, at approximately 2:02 PM Ofc. Macleod of the Rochester Police Department responded to a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm. Ofc. Macleod made contact with Victim- an adult male fully identified in police reports. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was driving westbound on 12th Street near Cub Foods in Rochester, Olmsted County Minnesota. Victim said he drove around a white Subaru that pulled onto the road slowly. The driver of the white Subaru got close to Victim's vehicle and Victim observed the driver digging around his waistband and then produce a firearm.
Victim described the pistol as a silver revolver that was gleaming in the sunlight. The driver pointed the pistol at Victim and his vehicle for approximately 5 to 10 seconds. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was afraid he'd be shot and was afraid because he had a 17-month old child [NAME REDACTED]. The driver then lowered the pistol and gave Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim let the driver go by him so he could get the license plate number. Victim described the suspect as a white male in his 60's and provided the plate to dispatch.
The vehicle registered to Douglas Jason Boatright ([DOB REDACTED]), Defendant herein. Ofc. Mueller contacted Defendant by phone and then made contact with him outside his residence. Ofc. Mueller asked Defendant where his revolver was and Defendant said he had not carried all day. Defendant stated, "if you're talking about the deal on the corner, it was bear spray." Defendant then confirmed the driving confrontation, indicating he had been cut off. Defendant said he pulled bear spray and "show him he wasn't playin' and had something." Ofc.
Macleod and detectives responded to Defendant's address to execute a search warrant. In the residence law enforcement located a silver Colt King Cobra loaded with five rounds of.357, a holster for the Colt, and another revolver, and also located a canister of bear spray. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
