On November 10, 2025, an officer with the Blaine Police Department observed a vehicle with an inoperable brake light fail to stop prior to making a right turn on a red light. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Jefferson St. NE just north of 89th Ave NE, city of Blaine, county of Anoka. In addition to the driver, there was a male passenger in the front seat and two male individuals in the back seat. The individuals in the back seat were not wearing their seat belts. Officers identified the individuals and one of the males in the back seat, GEORGE MICHAEL MEDLEY [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein, had an outstanding warrant.
Defendant was placed under arrest for the warrant and placed in the rear of a squad car. Upon arrival at the Anoka County Jail, officers removed Defendant from the vehicle and found a plastic baggie containing numerous oblong pills on the floorboard partially underneath the partition. The plastic baggie had what appeared to be traces of blood on it. The officer completed a squad check at the beginning of his shift, confirmed the rear of the squad was empty, and subsequently no one other than Defendant had been in the rear of the squad car.
The officer reviewed his squad video which showed Defendant dig in the back of his pants, apparently reach inside his rectal cavity, produce an unknown item, drop the item to the floor, and kick it towards the partition. Law enforcement sent the pills to the Midwest Regional Forensic Laboratory, where they tested positive for alprazolam, a Schedule IV controlled substance commonly known as Xanax. Law enforcement obtained a search warrant and conducted a search of the records of the MN State Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP). Records showed that Defendant did not have an active prescription on the date of the arrest.
