Victim 1 resides at [ADDRESS REDACTED] Crystal, Hennepin County Minnesota. Nicholas Gary Kamp, herein Defendant, is their neighbor. In the summer of 2024, Defendant asked Victim 1 not to feed the ducks and geese because he did not like them in his yard. Victim 1 stopped putting out corn for the ducks and geese and only put bird seed in a feeder with a bowl under it to prevent seeds from getting on the ground. On March 15, 2025, Victim 1 found rat poison in their bird feeder located between her home and Defendant’s home.
Victim 1 moved the feeder closer to her home. Victim 1 began finding dead animals on her property. The animals appeared to have been shot with a small caliber gun or air rifle. On 2/1/2026, Victim 1 and Victim 2, Victim 1’s spouse, were outside clearing snow from their driveway. Victim 2 used a snowblower. Victim shoveled. Victim 2 heard a loud bang and assumed Victim 1 had hit the shovel against the ground to remove snow from it. Victim 1 assumed Victim 2’s snowblower had backfired. A couple minutes later, they heard two more loud bangs.
Victim 2 texted Defendant asking if Defendant had just fired a gun. Defendant never responded. Victim 1 and 2 believed the bangs were gunshots that were from a higher caliber firearm other than a pellet gun. Victim 1 walked to the east side of the house to look for dead animals believing Defendant may have been shooting at animals. Victim 1 observed Defendant’s window cracked enough to allow the barrel of a firearm to fit through it. Victims’ home is directly in front of the open window and source of the sound.
Victim 1 observed a figure in the window. Victim 1 yelled to the person asking if they had just shot a round at their home. The figure moved and the window closed. Victim 1 did not locate any dead animals. Law enforcement responded to multiple 911 calls. SWAT responded and negotiated with Defendant to exit his home with his hands up. Victim 1 observed police officers apprehend Defendant. While Defendant had his hands up, Victim 1 observed Defendant look up and point at her in the window. Victim 1 took a picture memorializing Defendant pointing at her as he was being apprehended by law enforcement.
Victim 1 interpreted Defendant’s gesture to be a threat and a signal that he blamed Victims for his arrest, even though multiple people called 911 in response to the shots fired. Victims 1 and 2 are fearful of retaliation from Defendant should he be released from custody. Since 2024, Victim 1 has tried to avoid Defendant. As a result of Defendant’s conduct over the past two years, Victim 1 has experienced anxiety and now fears for her life and safety. Law enforcement located an AR-15-style firearm and spent casings in Defendant’s home.
Defendant is currently in custody.
