On November 21, 2025, Inv. Brendan Rasinski of the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crime Team (SEMVCET) and the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office prepared a search warrant application to search, among other places, the residence at [ADDRESS REDACTED] Northwest, Rochester, Minnesota. Residents of the house included MOSES JOSEPH OGAK [DOB REDACTED] and his brother Crestopher Komakic Joseph Lon Ogak. A judge of Olmsted County District Court reviewed and issued the search warrant. On November 24, 2025, the search warrant was executed.
MOSES JOSEPH OGAK was present at the residence when officers executed the search warrant. In the upstairs bathroom toilet tank, Inv. Ben Bohle of the Dodge County Sheriff's Office found a black Glock 19 handgun (serial number #BUPV856). Attached to the Glock handgun was a "switch" or "auto sear," which is an aftermarket device that converts a semiautomatic handgun into a fully automatic firearm. Installed at the rear of the handgun, the switch allows the weapon to fire continuously with a single pull of the trigger.
Law enforcement took precautions when collecting the handgun to preserve any DNA that may have been present on the firearm or switch. Swabbings from the Glock firearm and switch were submitted to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension ("BCA"), along with known DNA samples from MOSES JOSEPH OGAK and Crestopher Ogak. BCA report number 4 for this investigation (ICR 25926575, BCA Lab No. S25-17917) stated the following: From swabbings from the textured grips, slide serrations, trigger guard and buttons of the handgun and switch, a DNA profile was developed and interpreted as a mixture originating from five individuals.
The DNA mixture was evaluated to determine if Moses Joseph Ogak and Crestopher Ogak could be contributors. The statistical calculation supports the inclusion of MOSES JOSEPH OGAK to the DNA mixture. The probability of observing this DNA profile is greater than 100 billion times more likely if a mixture of DNA from Moses Joseph Ogak and four unknown, unrelated individuals is the source 2 55-CR-26-1636 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 3/5/2026 than if a mixture of DNA from five unknown, unrelated individuals is the source.
The statistical calculation supports the exclusion of Crestopher Ogak to the DNA mixture. The probability of observing this DNA profile is 58 billion times more likely if a mixture of DNA from five unknown, unrelated individuals is the source than if a mixture of DNA from Crestopher Ogak and four unknown, unrelated individuals is the source. Two years earlier, on August 24, 2023, officers from the Rochester Police Department searched the same residence, [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW (ICR 23-42126). At that time, MOSES JOSEPH OGAK was sixteen years old.
