On January 1, 2026, Fridley Police were dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE on a report of a domestic assault. At the scene, S. B. Had blood on her face and hands, and reported that her boyfriend of two years, Defendant Joseph John Charles Anderson ([DOB REDACTED]) had assaulted her that morning after they were awoken by a parcel delivery. While in bed, Defendant became upset and started pulling S. B.'s hair. She told him to stop, and Defendant grabbed a bottle of Baileys that was in the bedroom, and threw it at S. B., hitting her in the right shoulder.
The bottle did not break, which appeared to upset Defendant further. He then grabbed part of the ceiling light fixture, threw it on the ground to smash it, and then grabbed a large piece of glass and threw it at her, striking her in the lip and causing bleeding on her face and mouth. Defendant then left the premises. Defendant was located in his vehicle not far from the scene. He was actively bleeding from one of his hands, and was having an anxiety attack that required medical care. After receiving treatment, Defendant provided a Mirandized statement where he admitted to ripping the chandelier off the ceiling and smashing it to the ground, but stated that he could not remember anything after that.
He also could not recall if the broken glass had caused the bleeding on his hands. Law enforcement collected both the Bailey's bottle and the large chunk of glass that was thrown at S. B. As evidence. The glass chunk is sharp on several edges and it was thrown directly into S. B.'s face, creating a risk of serious harm if it had struck a blood vessel or sliced S. B.'s skin. Defendant has a prior conviction for OFP violation in ••-CR-••-••••.
