Officer Heck initiated a felony stop. He began to given JENSEN verbal commands, to which JENSEN complied. Detectives Michael Christensen and Joe Schaefbauer arrived on scene and assisted with the felony stop. Detective Christensen approached the vehicle and assisted in giving verbal commands to JENSEN. JENSEN was secured in the back of Officer Heck's vehicle.
As officers cleared the vehicle and noted a revolver-style handgun laying nest to a holster on the front passenger seat. Officer Heck went to speak with JENSEN. Officer Heck read JENSEN his Miranda Warning, and JENSEN agreed to speak with Officer Heck. JENSEN stated that he was on his way home from the Legion in Willmar when someone began tailgating him on Lakeland Drive. JENSEN stated that when both vehicles reached the intersection of Lakeland Drive and Willmar Avenue SE, there was an exchange of words.
JENSEN stated that at the time, JENSEN took his revolver out of the center console and had it in his lap as he felt threatened by the other vehicle yelling at tailgating him. He did not remember ever pointing the handgun at the other vehicle and was unsure if the other vehicle had seen the handgun or not. JENSEN stated several times that he would not have pointed the handgun at someone unless he felt there was an immediate need to use the handgun. But, that he would possibly have placed the handgun on the dash to display it as a show of force and to discourage further aggressive behavior.
Officer Heck informed JENSEN that he had additional concerns about possible intoxication while operating a vehicle and advised that he noted several signs of impairment. Officer Heck noted those signs to include slurred speech and lack of balance, as well as JENSEN advising that he had been at the Legion and had approximately six mixed drinks over the course of three hours, by JENSEN's estimation. After JENSEN was secured, Detective Christensen went to the Green Mill restaurant on Hwy 12 to 3 34-CR-26-2 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 1/2/2026 speak with the Adult Male A. Adult Male A stated that he, his wife, and two sons were on their way to the Green Mill and were driving on 19th Avenue SE, by Walmart, when JENSEN passed them and slammed on his brakes.
They followed JENSEN to the next light, where they pulled up next to him to turn right, as they were going to head east on Willmar Avenue SE to go to the Green Mill. As they were next to him, JENSEN rolled his window down, was mad, yelling at them and had taken a revolver out and held it up in the air. While JENSEN was yelling at them with the revolver in his hand, Adult Male A felt that JENSEN was threatening him and his family with the revolver. JENSEN told Adult Male A that he did not want any of this.
