That on or about October 24, 2025, at 5:04 P.M., Officers with the St. Louis Park Police Department were dispatched to the area of Excelsior Blvd. And Park Nicollet Blvd., located in the City of St. Louis Park, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota, on a report of a hit-and-run accident. The Reporting Party, T. H., advised dispatch he was following the vehicle involved in the accident, later identified as a 2008 Gold GMC Acadia with MN Plate KKU-310 (“suspect vehicle” herein). Officer Sawtelle with the St. Louis Park Police Department located the suspect vehicle being followed by T. H.’s vehicle, later identified as a 2023 White GMC Yukon with MN Plate ZCN-516 (“victim vehicle” herein). Officer Sawtelle observed the suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.
The suspect vehicle then took a sharp and dangerous turn onto westbound 39th St. From Xenwood Ave. The suspect vehicle continued to drive at a high rate of speed through a neighborhood and failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Cambridge and Alabama Ave. The suspect vehicle eventually came to a screeching halt. The driver of the suspect vehicle exited the suspect vehicle and told Officer Sawtelle he was scared. Officer Sawtelle contacted the driver of the suspect vehicle, who was positively identified as JERON ARDEN BRAUN (“Defendant” herein). While speaking with Defendant, Officer Sawtelle observed Defendant’s eyes were red and watery.
Defendant stood with an abnormal gait. In plain view on the passenger-side seat of the suspect vehicle, there was tin foil folded in an obscure manner consistent with illicit narcotic use. Officer Moore with the St. Louis Park Police Department arrived on scene and contacted the Defendant. The Defendant was showing an anxious demeanor, and Officer Moore recommended that Defendant take a few deep breaths to calm down. While speaking with Defendant, Officer Moore smelled the odor of consumed alcohol emanating from Defendant’s breath.
Defendant stated he consumed alcohol prior to going to work and that his shift was 10 hours long. Officer Moore initiated field sobriety tests, on which Defendant exhibited several clues of impairment. At 5:29 P.M., based on the observed indicia of intoxication, Defendant was placed under arrest. During a search incident to arrest of Defendant, Officer Moore located three different types of amphetamines in Defendant’s left pant pocket. The amphetamines (Schedule II) were inside a plastic bag, which consisted of 5 pink 25 mg capsules labeled “ELI-514,” 5 pink 15 mg tablets labeled “B-777,” and 11 orange 15 mg tablets labeled “U29.” Officers determined Defendant did not have a prescription for the amphetamines inside the plastic bag.
During an inventory search of the suspect vehicle, Officers located a prescription bottle for Defendant consisting of a 30 mg amphetamine, which did not match the amphetamines located inside the plastic bag on Defendant’s person. Under the driver’s seat of the suspect vehicle, Officers located an open container of Windsor Whiskey. The open container of Windsor Whiskey was half full. Officers also located one dosage unit of a green crystal-like substance inside the tin foil on the passenger seat of the suspect vehicle, which later field tested positive for methamphetamine (Schedule II). Officer Moore retrieved a signed search warrant for a sample of Defendant’s blood or urine.
