On October 6, 2025, officers of the Minneapolis Police Department were informed by VICTIM [NAME REDACTED] that her former romantic partner, NYAKOOJOO KWABENBA TRICE [DOB REDACTED], DEFENDANT herein, had started a physical altercation while both parties were attending a football game the prior evening. According to VICTIM, on October 5, 2025, both parties were at the football game of a shared child [NAME REDACTED] Washburn High School located at 201 West 49th Street, City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, MN, when DEFENDANT began antagonizing her about her communication with another man.
An argument ensured at which time DEFENDANT, using physical force, overcame VICTIM’s resistance and took her cell phone, an iPhone 14, from her hands. DEFENDANT then fled the location with VICTIM’s phone and did not return it. DEFENDANT then attempted to use VICTIM’s phone to access VICTIM’s bank account as well as access other financial matters. Records indicate that after the phone was taken by the DEFENDANT, multiple transactions were attempted using the phone to pay a Xfinity account in DEFENDANT’s name.
Records also indicate that a purchase was attempted using VICTIM’s bank card. DEFENDANT has a prior felony conviction/QDVRO within the last 10 years for: (1) Felony Domestic Assault in ••-CR-••-•••• ([DOB REDACTED]); and (2) Felony Domestic Assault-Strangulation, ••-CR-••-•••• ([DOB REDACTED]). DEFENDANT is not presently in custody. The state requests a Complaint Warrant issue due to the nature of this offense and Defendant's significant domestic related history.
