On March 6, 2026 Bloomington Police responded to the report of potential child abuse at a residence located in the city of Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arriving, the responding officer met with and took a statement from the victim's father. This person provided a statement wherein he indicated the following: He resides at the residence in Bloomington with his wife and their two children. The ages of the children are 2 years, and the youngest, referred to herein as the victim, is just 5-months old.
Also residing in the home is their au pair BELKY LILIBETH ACOSTA-OLMEDO [DOB REDACTED]. After recently noting that his two-year-old child was acting unusually clingy and afraid when being left with ACOSTA-OLMEDO, the victim's father began to review some surveillance footage from cameras kept within the home. These cameras are set to activate and record when a baby's cry can be detected. In a quick review he identified three concerning incidents. He permitted law enforcement to view these. Those recordings captured the following: On March 4, 2026, ACOSTA-OLMEDO was seen picking up the victim from a baby bouncer, and dropping/tossing them down onto a sloped mat on the floor.
The drop appeared to be with some frustration that the child would not stop crying and resulted in the child dropping approximately 2 feet onto the mat. On March 5, 2026, ACOSTA-OLMEDO is seen in the victim's nursery attempting to put the victim [NAME REDACTED]. The victim [NAME REDACTED]. ACOSTA-OLMEDO repeatedly places a pacifier in the victim's mouth. As the child continues to cry ACOSTA-OLMEDO begins forcefully hold the pacifier in the victim's mouth and forcefully holding it in place pushing and covering the victim's mouth and nose with her hand.
When the victim [NAME REDACTED], louder after having their face covered and pushed, ACOSTA-OLMEDO is seen taking the victim from the crib and repeatedly smacking the victim's back in what appears to be forceful attempt to burp the victim. Then ACOSTA-OLMEDO is seen quickly, jarringly, flipping the victim back and forth causing the victim's head to swing. In another clip from March 5, 2026, ACOSTA-OLMEDO is seen leaning over the victim's crib asking why the victim [NAME REDACTED]. When the victim begins to cry louder ACOSTA-OLMEDO is seen slapping the 5-month- old victim [NAME REDACTED]. This results in even more and louder crying from the victim.
Images were taken of a mark to the victim's face. The victim's parents indicated that the mark to the victim's face was the result of the conduct from March 5, 2026. The responding officer noted that in recounting what had happened, the victim's parents appeared emotional. ACOSTA-OLMEDO was arrested at the scene.
