On January 9, 2026, around 12:48 A.M., while patrolling Highway 10 and 7th Avenue, Anoka, Anoka County, law enforcement observed a vehicle, an early 2000s white Chevy Tahoe, with extremely dark window tint. The driver was later identified as Matthew Michael Mills [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein. Law enforcement followed the vehicle as it went onto Highway 10. The vehicle took the 7th Avenue exit and turned through a red light without stopping. Law enforcement activated its emergency lights and pursued the vehicle.
The vehicle thereafter got back onto Highway 10 and accelerated away from law enforcement. Law enforcement noted the speed of the vehicle as exceeding 100 miles per hour. The vehicle then exited on Main Street at the last second, cutting another vehicle off. The vehicle again got back on Highway 10 as law enforcement pursued with its emergency lights and siren on. Defendant continued to flee. A pursuit of the vehicle continued for over 30 minutes and over 15 miles over multiple counties. The vehicle was attempted to be stop?sticked by law enforcement, but it did not stop the vehicle.
Law enforcement also attempted a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver, but that also did not stop the vehicle. The State patrol helicopter was also following the vehicle as it drove to North Minneapolis, Hennepin County, and stopped at an address on the 2700 block of Polk Street NE, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. During the entire pursuit, defendant was driving recklessly and was all over the road. Defendant also hit another vehicle, causing damage to the other vehicle. Law enforcement was able to arrest defendant at the residence after defendant was seen on the roof by the State Patrol helicopter.
In a search of the vehicle after arrest, the vehicle’s VIN returned a result that the vehicle was stolen out of Minneapolis, Hennepin, and it was taken without the keys. The registered owner of the vehicle is T. B., and they did not give defendant permission to drive their vehicle. Inside the vehicle, law enforcement also found a license plate to another vehicle, a ring of various keys, a Tupperware full of a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for 1.4 grams of methamphetamines, and a white rock-like substance that field- tested positive for 1.6 grams of crack cocaine.
Law enforcement also located a small black backpack with a replica Glock bb-gun inside it.
