On January 23, 2026, around 8:00 A.M., law enforcement was contacted by an employee for the U-Haul located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW, Coon Rapids, Anoka County, on a report of a stolen 2025 Chevrolet Silverado (stolen vehicle). According to the employee, from what they observed on surveillance footage, on January 21, 2026, a male suspect in winter clothing, exited an old two-toned Dodge pickup (suspect vehicle) came into their store, and took the keys off the back wall for their vehicles. The suspect was later identified as Robert Darrell Boettcher [DOB REDACTED], defendant Boettcher herein.
While defendant Boettcher was inside the U-Haul store taking the keys, a female suspect, who interacts with and appears to have arrived with defendant Boettcher, was inside the store and eventually begins talking with the staff while defendant Boettcher takes the keys on the wall of the U-Haul store. This female was later identified as Mariah Jo Kras [DOB REDACTED], defendant Kras herein. On January 22, 2026, around 6:40 A.M. The suspect vehicle returns to the U-Haul and the lights of the vehicle that eventually is stolen flash as if a key fob was used to locate the stolen vehicle the parking lot.
The suspect vehicle then leaves. That same day around 7:50 P.M. The suspect vehicle and a dark-colored SUV are seen at or near the same U-Haul store and defendant Boettcher exits the suspect vehicle, enters the stolen vehicle, and drives away. Prior to the theft of the stolen vehicle a female that appears to be defendant Kras is seen walking by the stolen vehicle. That same night, the stolen vehicle was seen parked at a Country Inn & Suites on [ADDRESS REDACTED], Coon Rapids, Anoka County. The driver, defendant Boettcher, is seen on hotel surveillance exiting the vehicle and walking into the hotel.
Internal hotel surveillance shows defendant Boettcher enter room 214. Room 214 was booked by a male and female, Shane Clinton Rundle [DOB REDACTED] and “Christina Rundle.” Christina Rundle was determined to be a fake name. Through hotel lobby surveillance, the female was determined to be defendant Kras. Defendant Boettcher leaves the hotel around 11:54 P.M. In the stolen vehicle. On January 26, 2026, law enforcement recovered the vehicle on 26th Avenue just west of Buchanan Street, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, using tracking data from U-Haul.
DNA was collected from the vehicle. Results are pending. The suspect vehicle was also located nearby. The suspect vehicle was registered to a company that had a recent traffic stop involving defendant Boettcher and defendant Kras. Neither are the registered owners of the suspect vehicle. The registered owner of the suspect vehicle was in the Anoka County Jail during the time of the theft and could not have been driving the vehicle on or about January 21, 2026.
