Witness 1 stated that the defendant also had a Black girl with him, but she did not know her name. Deputy LaCore learned that the defendant’s cousin, B. N. P. (an adult female) lives at 1906 6th Avenue NW. At approximately 6:50 A.M., Lacore and other law enforcement officers went to B. N. P.’s residence. LaCore observed a silver vehicle covered with a blue tarp-like material parked in the driveway. Officers confirmed the vehicle to be the same vehicle that fled from LaCore. Deputy Mueller then observed a female matching Victim A’s description inside the residence before she quickly went down to the basement. 3 50-CR-26-656 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 4/14/2026 Deputy LaCore approached the residence and contacted B. N. P. LaCore informed her that he needed the defendant and B. N. P. Glanced downstairs and mumbled, “I don’t know where he is.” B. N. P. Then made eye contact with LaCore and nodded while looking towards the basement.
LaCore then announced to the defendant that he was under arrest. No one responded. B. N. P. And her four children were escorted from the residence to a safe location. Law enforcement then attempted several PA announcements advising the defendant he was under arrest as well as direct announcements from top of the basement stairs. No one answered, but law enforcement would periodically hear rustling sounds coming from the basement. At approximately 7:36 A.M., B. N. P. Tried to contact the defendant.
B. N. P. Asked the defendant to exit the house. The defendant began yelling that Victim A better not be in trouble. Deputy Mueller, who was positioned at the top of the stairs could hear a female crying from the basement. Shortly thereafter, Victim A exited the basement and was visibly upset, shaking, and crying. Sgt. McCormack escorted Victim A to safety. McCormack observed redness to the left side of Victim A’s neck.
