On November 19, 2025, a mandated reporter notified the Coon Rapids Police Department that 8-year-old Victim A had come to school with several long vertical marks on her inner forearm, some of which had scabs. When asked, Victim A stated that her mother, Defendant Pretty Guzeh Brown [DOB REDACTED], had struck her several times with a wooden stick when she spilled water on the floor after a shower. The family resides in Coon Rapids, Anoka County. Victim A was brought in for a forensic interview, and disclosed that Defendant had struck her and her siblings in the past on multiple occasions, including both open-hand slaps and "beatings", where Defendant would use a stick from outside, a wooden spoon, or another wooden implement to strike her and her siblings.
Victim A stated that Defendant would use the same instrument until it broke, and then would obtain a new one. When the interviewer asked Victim A how many times she had been struck, Victim A reported that Defendant told her not to count, "or else she'd make [Victim A] bleed more" and that she would "break [Victim A's] hands". Victim A also shared that her 11-year-old sister, Victim B, still had dark scars from a similar beating she had received more than a year ago. Law enforcement interviewed Victim B as well, who disclosed that in 2023, Defendant had gotten upset and beat her on her right thigh hard enough to leave lasting scars.
After the interview, Victim B showed law enforcement her leg, and five horizontal dark marks were visible, approximately one inch long each. Victim B confirmed that she had received these marks as punishment. Defendant has two additional children, a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old. Victim B referenced in her interview that the 5-year-old had been beaten with a stick the night before, again for misbehaving. A hold was placed on the children and Defendant was taken into custody.
