On October 3, 2025, Minneapolis Police Officers responded to a theft report at Lunds & Byerly's, [ADDRESS REDACTED] South, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Asset Protection Officer I. B. Reported that two known prolific shoplifters entered Lunds & Byerly's against an August 31, 2025, Trespass Notice. At approximately 7:04 P.M., I. B. Observed JUAN MANUEL MORALES VELAQUEZ, Defendant herein, and Christina Cardenas enter Lunds & Byerly's. Both individuals took several drinks from the cooler and then proceeded to the aisle where trash bags are sold.
The Defendant then opened a trash bag and concealed merchandise inside. The Defendant and Cardenas then left the store without paying for the items that were concealed in the trash bags. The Defendant has been issued a valid trespass notice and has been geographically restricted from Lunds and Byerly's in open case files. The Defendant currently has nine (9) open felony cases for thefts and burglaries from Lunds & Byerly's. The Defendant is currently charged in prosecutor file 25A12162 where on October 10, 2025, at 7:49 A.M., the same day as this case file in the morning, the Defendant and Cardenas returned to Lunds and Byerly's Downtown Minneapolis and stole $86.73 worth of merchandise and entered the store against the trespass notice.
The Defendant has a prior conviction for Simple Robbery in case file 27-CR-23-7809. The Defendant is currently in custody.
