On December 29, 2025, at approximately 4:41 PM, Sergeant Brady Wolhart with the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office was advised of a computer theft from the fourth floor of the Olmsted County Courthouse, located in Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota. The following date, Sergeant Wolhart reviewed surveillance footage of the theft. Based upon his review of various cameras, Sergeant Wolhart observed the following: a male suspect left the probation office on the fourth floor of the government center around 3:30 PM on December 26, 2025. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and had a distinctive tattoo near his left eye.
The suspect unplugged the computer nearest to the elevators and placed it under some papers nearby. A short time later, the suspect placed the computer in his sweatshirt and left the building. The suspect entered the backseat of a vehicle parked in front of city hall and left the area. Sergeant Wolhart determined which probation agent the suspect met with on December 26. The probation agent identified the suspect as DANA MICHAEL WILSON, [DOB REDACTED]. Wilson’s probation agent contacted Wilson, who returned to the government center and met with Sergeant Wolhart.
In a Mirandized statement, Wilson admitted to taking the computer, stating he believed it was either a DVD player or a streaming device. He stated he unsuccessfully tried to pry it open. Wilson returned the computer, which was damaged. A district court IT employee advised Sergeant Wolhart that the value of the stolen computer was $1,200.
