D. N. Told law enforcement that defendant had been staying with him and defendant claimed they were his or his dad’s. Defendant was located at the Ramsey County Jail and, in a post-Miranda statement, defendant stated that he was staying with D. N. In December and admitted to stealing a truck from a landscaping business after trying the doors on other cars with different keys. He said the truck was red and he spray-painted it black, went to the Walmart, and fell asleep in the car. When he woke up, the car wouldn’t start so he called his dad for help with a jump start.
The Walmart surveillance confirms this series of events.
