On or about November 3, 2025, at approximately 2:00 PM, Officer Wendell of the Mankato Police Department responded to a DWI call for service in the area of 806 N 6th St, City of Mankato, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, the officer observed two males, a dog, and a child [NAME REDACTED]. One of the males was identified as the reporting party and the other was identified as KENNETH JOHN LANGWORTHY, [DOB REDACTED], the Defendant herein. Upon contact, Defendant stated the child [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant had driven to the address in his vehicle with the child about five to ten minutes prior to the officer's arrival.
While speaking, the officer noted several signs of impairment in Defendant, including slurred speech, strong odor of alcohol, and visible drowsiness. Defendant admitted to drinking earlier that morning and agreed to perform field sobriety tests to determine his level of impairment. Defendant showed several signs of impairment during the tests and, after agreeing to a preliminary breath test, produced a breath sample with a result of 0.186 BAC. Defendant's wife arrived on the scene and took the child [NAME REDACTED] into her custody.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, the officer noted Defendant did not have any child [NAME REDACTED] in place for his three year old daughter in his vehicle. Defendant was transported to Blue Earth County Jail. At the jail, Defendant was read the breath test advisory, to which he stated he would participate in the breath test. After an observation period, Defendant produced a breath sample with a result of 0.17 BAC at 3:38 PM.
