On October 27, 2025, at approximately 3:05 A.M., officers of the Austin Police Department were dispatched to a residence located in the City of Austin, County of Mower. The reporting party (Victim A, an adult male) stated that he had called to report his car was stolen. Victim A told Officer Thomas that on October 26, 2025, at approximately 10:00 P.M., he had driven to the residence with his friend, S. K. H. (an adult male),“Courtney” and “Sam,” later identified as SAMANTHA ROBYN ALLEN-HINCHLEY, DOB/060394, the defendant herein.
Victim A stated that he was watching TV with S. K. H. When the defendant and “Courtney” took off in his black 2012 Chevrolet Equinox (MN license JNE137). Victim A stated they had been at the residence for half an hour or less when the defendant and “Courtney” stole his vehicle. Victim A stated the keys had been left in the vehicle. Victim A stated that at no time did he give the defendant or “Courtney” permission to take his vehicle. Victim A did state that they had planned to go to Rochester together and the defendant was going to drive because he could not see well at night.
However, Victim A stated that he never gave the defendant or “Courtney” permission to take the vehicle. At approximately 7:15 A.M., Officer Hansen and Officer Thomas were traveling westbound on Oakland Avenue East near 2nd Street in the City of Austin. Hansen observed the stolen Equinox parked behind 105 2nd Street SE. As Hansen passed the vehicle, he observed the rear driver’s side door was open and saw the defendant digging in the rear passenger compartment. The officers stopped and made contact with the defendant and detained her.
Officer Thomas read the defendant the Miranda warning. The defendant stated she understood and wished to speak with the officers. The defendant claimed the "other girl" she was with had permission to take the car and the owner gave her the keys. The defendant claimed that she was not there for this conversation. The defendant did admit she got the stolen vehicle from the owner’s house by Casey’s. The defendant stated the occupants of the stolen vehicle were her, another female, and another subject that hand been the driver.
The defendant denied driving the vehicle and refused to identify anyone she was with. The defendant stated that she got a ride in the stolen vehicle to the current location and the other subjects since left to search for jumper cables because the vehicle’s battery had died. Officers contacted Victim A who arrived at the scene a short time later. Victim A stated that the defendant was the driver and stole his vehicle on the night prior. Victim A told Hansen he watched the defendant drive out of the driveway in his vehicle and she did so without his permission.
Victim A stated that he did not initially report the vehicle stolen in case they returned it, but they had not. The keys for the vehicle were located in the ignition. Victim A took custody of the vehicle, and the defendant was released pending review. On November 1, 2025, Officer Thomas made contact with Victim A to complete the stolen vehicle and recovery forms. On November 7, 2025, the defendant was located at 708 5th Avenue NW and placed under arrest and transported to the Mower County Jail.
