On January 18, 2025, officers with the Robbinsdale Police Department responded to a residence (“the Residence”) located at 5418 45th Avenue North in Robbinsdale, Hennepin County, Minnesota, for a welfare check. Officers were notified that a person (“the Mother”) had contacted law enforcement. The Mother stated that her daughter, and a friend of the daughter, were at the Residence. The daughter’s father, Seth Aaron Kaiser [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”), was also at the Residence. The Mother reported that the daughter had contacted her through the FaceTime App (“the App”). The Daughter stated that Defendant had not fed her.
The Mother saw Defendant through the App and saw white powder all over his nose and lips. The daughter also told the Mother that Defendant had “locked [her] out of the bedroom all day and hasn’t fed [her] today.” The Mother was worried about her daughter and Defendant. Officers called the Mother on their way to the Residence; the Mother told officers that Defendant had used narcotics in the past. Officers arrived at the Residence and were met at the door by the daughter. Officers asked the daughter where Defendant was located, and the daughter reported that Defendant was in his room and that the door was locked.
Officers entered the Residence and located Defendant’s room. Officers found that it was locked. After approximately a minute of announcements, Defendant exited his room. Officers observed white powder on Defendant’s clothing and nose. Officers and Defendant entered Defendant’s room whereby officers asked Defendant if he had used narcotics; Defendant denied any use. Defendant was asked again if he had used and Defendant stated that he had failed a couple of drug tests and that he lost his Class A license.
While in Defendant’s room, officers observed, in plain view, a plate with a white powdery substance. Next to the plate was a baggie with a white substance inside of it as well as a straw. Based on their training and experience, officers believed the white substances to be narcotics. Defendant was subsequently arrested. The white substances field tested positive for cocaine, a schedule-II controlled substance, and weighed 0.78-grams.
