On April 4, 2026, at approximately 11:23 PM, Officers with the Rochester Police Department were dispatched a burglary alarm at a construction site. The alarm company reported that a man was near the back door moving items around inside the building. On arrival, they saw a vehicle running next to the building. Officer Peterson looked in the vehicle and saw various tools and copper pipes. She then saw a man exit the west side of the building and run east. She stopped the man and identified him as TRENTON JAMES HAGAN, [DOB REDACTED]. Officer Peterson searched Hagan incident to arrest and located snips in his right pocket.
Based upon her training and experience, this tool is often used to cut copper wiring. Hagan advised Officer Peterson that the vehicle running outside the construction site was his. She returned to the vehicle and observed a rubber straw with reside sticking up near the seatbelt on the driver’s side and balled up tin foil on the driver’s seat. Officer Kruger responded to the stop with his K9, Tuck, who alerted on the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle. Officer Martinez found a BB gun in a bag on the dashboard.
Officer Peterson found a small baggie with a white powdery substance in the driver’s side door handle. The substance tested presumptive positive for cocaine and weighed 0.67 grams with packaging. She also located 11 white pills that field tested positive for cocaine. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
