On October 6, 2025, Minnetonka Police Department officers responded to a reported theft in progress at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minnetonka, Hennepin County Minnesota. The reporting party noted that two individuals entered the store at said address and began selecting merchandise from the store shelves and placing the items in their baskets. Both individuals subsequently passed all points of sale without making any attempt to purchase the items in their possession and exited the store. Surveillance outside of the store showed both individuals putting the stolen merchandise into a vehicle and then entering the vehicle.
The total value of the merchandise is $2,960. Neither individual's had permission to remove items from the store without first paying for them. Officers located said vehicle entering interstate 394 heading east, away from the store. Officers pursued the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle slowed and pulled to the side of the road. Before coming to a complete stop, the vehicle reentered the interstate and began to accelerate away from the pursuing officers. Officers did not give chase per department policy.
On October 7, 2025, Minnetonka Police Department officers located the aforementioned vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Within the vehicle was an individual identified as ALI ISMAIL ALQAWASMI, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant. Also, within the vehicle, officers located several of the items reported stolen by the store on October 6, 2025. Officers took a photo of Defendant on October 7th and compared the image with the surveillance footage provided by the store. Upon comparison, officers confirmed Defendant was one of the individuals observed on surveillance removing merchandise from the store without permission or payment.
Defendant is not currently in custody. The State respectfully requests this complaint issue via summons.
