On June 2, 2026, at approximately 4:53 P.M., Fridley Police Officer Johnson was dispatched to the TruStone Financial located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE in the City of Fridley, Anoka County, Minnesota regarding a robbery report. Upon arrival, Officer Johnson spoke with the lead teller identified as ASB, who stated she was working at the counter when a male identified as GARY ALLEN KACHINA, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter defendant, approached the counter and asked to withdraw money. ASB had difficulty locating the defendant’s account, so he provided his social security number.
ASB said she located the account and confirmed the driver’s license photograph that appeared on the account matched the defendant. ASB told the defendant his account had a $0 balance. The defendant then gave ASB a letter demanding $2,000 in cash in undyed bills. ASB said the letter contained swear words, but she could not recall anything further about the letter. Due to the demand, ASB withdrew a mixed amount of cash from the register and gave it to the defendant. The defendant then took the money and the letter and fled the bank.
During the conversation Officer Johnson noted ASB was visibility distraught and shaken up. Officer Johnson also spoke with the branch manager MO who stated the defendant is a member at the bank and has caused issues at the bank previously. MO said the defendant threatened to fight employees in the past and was disorderly at TruStone on April 29, 2026, in which Fridley Police were involved. MO said when the defendant arrived at the bank this day, a staff member informed her of his arrival. MO walked over to see ASB and briefly saw the note.
MO remembers seeing the note asking for $2,000 and requested there be no dye packs. MO said she gestured toward ASB for her to comply with the request and MO walked away and called 911. MO determined the defendant received $2,500 in various bills. The defendant was later located by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and while in custody made comments that he was in trouble with the FBI, cartel and that his vehicle/backpack had been rigged with C4 explosives. After the defendant’s vehicle and backpack were cleared by the Minneapolis Bomb Squad a search warrant was executed on the vehicle and $2,092 was located in a TruStone Financial envelope.
