On November 1, 2025, at approximately 6:48 PM, Officer Morales with the Rochester Police Department was dispatched to a trespass complaint at a hotel located in downtown Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota. Upon her arrival, the manager advised Officer Morales that she wanted CHRISTOPHER ANDREW CAFFES, [DOB redacted], removed from the hotel. Caffes, who had previously been trespassed from the hotel in March 2025, was sleeping at the hotel’s bar. Officer Morales woke up Caffes, who was intoxicated, and advised him he needed to pay for his meal and leave.
Other officers with the Rochester Police Department on scene also tried to advise Caffes to leave the hotel peacefully. Caffes began yelling at the officers and refused to leave, demanding to know who contacted law enforcement. At one point, Caffes stood up, exposing multiple knives on his person. Officers placed Caffes under arrest. While they were handcuffing him, Caffes continued to attempt to finish his meal. As officers escorted Caffes out of the hotel, he continued to yell and scream slurs at officers and hotel guests.
As Officer Morales searched Caffes incident to arrest, Caffes began spitting at the squad car and the officers. Caffes turned his head toward Officer Hilowle and spit directly at him, leaving a visible amount of spit on Officer Hilowle’s vest.
