On May 7, 2025, Law Enforcement received a report of suspicious activities from Logan Companies, a business on the 13900 block of Radium Street in the city of Ramsey, Anoka County. The reporting party had learned that an expected check for $5,783.90 had not arrived, and was stolen. The check was altered to be payable to D. M. And deposited into a Wings Financial Credit Union in the name of D. M. The check was deposited on April 13, 2025, via mobile deposit, utilizing the Comcast service at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW, Coon Rapids.
On or about April 16, 2025, the owners of Galaxy Mechanical, a business in Ham Lake, Anoka County, reported that a check for $43,426.79 mailed to Winsupply, also located on the 13900 block Radium Street, was stolen, altered to be payable to D. M., and deposited into the Wings account in D. M.’s name. The deposit was made on April 15, 2025, via mobile deposit, utilizing T-Mobile service assigned to Justin Samuel Schaden [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Defendant’s address of record—[ADDRESS REDACTED] NW, Coon Rapids—was the same listed on the Wings account. $2,000.00 cash was withdrawn from the Wings account on April 16, 2025. The Logan Companies discovered that on April 21, 2025, a person or persons unknown incorporated a new Minnesota Limited Liability Company in their name, with the Defendant as the registered agent, and the Bluebird St NW address as the registered office address.
Like the Logan Companies check, the corporate filing originated from the Comcast service at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW. The Wings account opened on April 8, 2025, at the branch at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW, Coon Rapids, Anoka County. Surveillance footage from the account opening depicted Defendant, and his photo and address were on the identification presented in conjunction with the account opening, bearing D. M.’s name. After opening the account, Defendant redeemed two U. S. Series EE Savings Bonds, receiving $1,010.92 cash.
Complainant made contact with the real D. M. And learned that Bonds bearing D. M.’s name and Social Security number were stolen from D. M.’s daughter in St. Paul over a decade earlier. On September 7, 2025, complaint attempted to interview Defendant at the McLeod County Jail, where Defendant was in custody on an unrelated matter. Before complainant could complete the Miranda advisory, Defendant invoked his right to counsel. Between April 8 and April 16, 2025, in Anoka County, Defendant possessed the identity of a single direct victim, and combined losses to direct and indirect victims exceeded $35,000.00.
