Notice: Pursuant to Minnesota Rule of Criminal Procedure 7.02, the prosecution provides notice that, at trial, the State will offer evidence of the following offenses, in addition to the offense herein charged, for the purpose of proving the motive, intent, preparation, plan, and identity of the perpetrator. ••-CR-••-•••• On 9/2/2021, WYLIE threw concrete through the window of a driving school, ransacked the business, and stole a Toyota Corolla. WYLIE then burglarized his parents’ house in WI, left the scene driving the stolen Corolla, and unsuccessfully fled from the Wisconsin State Patrol.
WYLIE was convicted of Auto Theft in MN and Fleeing Police in WI (2021CF000729). Current Offense: On 01/13/2026 at about 2354 hours, a St. Paul Police Officer was contacted by Regions Hospital security personnel at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in St. Paul, Ramsey County. Security reported that they had detained a suspect for theft in the parking ramp. Upon arrival, the Officer found the suspect, Adam Williams WYLIE ([DOB REDACTED]), sitting on a curb. Security Officer, RC, told the Officer that WYLIE was found sitting in an employee's vehicle in the parking ramp.
When the employee confronted WYLIE, he got out of the vehicle and walked away. Security staff found WYLIE in the ramp. As they were escorting him off the property, they asked him if he had stolen anything from the vehicle. WYLIE started emptying his pockets and gave them two pairs of sunglasses, a bottle of hand sanitizer, a bottle of sunglass cleaner, and master keys to the northeast section of Regions Hospital. WYLIE was placed under arrest. The Officer then spoke with “ER”; the owner of the 2014 Acura MDX (MN/MVS-197) in which WYLIE was discovered.
ER said that when she finished her shift she found WYLIE sitting in her vehicle. She said WYLIE had rifled the vehicle and damaged its navigation screen. ER confirmed that the property that WYLIE had in his possession, with the exception of the keys, belonged to her. In a post-Miranda statement, WYLIE said that he had an injured knee, received medical care at Regions, was discharged, and was unhappy because staff would not give him a cane and would not treat his Aspergers. He then went to the parking ramp and tried to find a vehicle from which he could steal cigarettes and other items.
He found the Acura unlocked, searched it and found the items that he stole. He said he pushed the vehicle’s “Start” button several times so he could steal the vehicle and drive it to West St. Paul, but it did not start. WYLIE also admitted using a tool to damage the vehicle’s navigation screen. WYLIE said what he did was wrong and that he should not have done it. Upon information and belief, the cost to replace the Acura’s damaged navigation screen exceeds $1,000. According to Carfax.com, the average value of a 2014 Acura MDX is $12,200. WYLIE has at least 5 prior felony convictions.
