On 12/01/2025 at about 1426 hours, St. Paul Police responded to an apartment at [ADDRESS REDACTED]. N in St. Paul, Ramsey County for a Domestic Assault involving a firearm. The complainant, LAC, said that her intoxicated boyfriend was in possession of a handgun and had threatened to shoot her with it. LAC said she had left the apartment, but the suspect, later identified as Anthony Ra HARE Ill [DOB REDACTED], was still inside. Upon arrival, police spoke to LAC who said HARE did not live in her apartment but visited occasionally.
She said that he arrived the previous evening and was highly intoxicated. When he woke up today, he began drinking making him even more intoxicated. LAC said HARE then loaded the handgun magazine, manipulated the firearm in front of her, and told her he was going to shoot her. LAC said she left the apartment and called 911. Police placed the apartment under surveillance and HARE was ordered to exit. He did not. Police made numerous attempts to negotiate with HARE and eventually obtained a search and arrest warrant.
After more than two hours, a SWAT team breached the apartment door and took HARE into custody. During a search of the apartment, police found a Titan EXCAM 25 Auto pistol inside the door on the floor, a loaded pistol magazine, and a zip lock baggie containing crystal-like suspected narcotics. In a follow-up interview with LAC, she explained that when HARE arrived at the apartment, he had two tequila bottles, the pistol, and a bag of crystal-like drugs. HARE accused LAC of having another man in her apartment, was punching the refrigerator, and bit her on the right cheek.
HARE then assembled the pistol, loaded a round into the chamber, and held it up to LAC’s right temple with his finger on the trigger. HARE then threatened to kill LAC and himself. When HARE turned around to grab something, LAC fled the apartment and called 911. The crystal-like substance in the bag police recovered later tested positive for Methamphetamine with a net weight of 16.24 grams. In a post-Miranda interview, HARE said LAC was his girlfriend. He denied knowing about guns or drugs in the apartment and denied he had an argument with LAC. HARE’s criminal conviction history makes him ineligible to possess firearms and/or ammunition.
