On February 19, 2026, at approximately 10:39 P.M., officers were dispatched to a car crash that had occurred in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers arrived and observed a black sedan with heavy front-end damage that had struck a tree head on. The vehicle’s airbags had deployed. The driver and registered owner of the vehicle was identified as MINNIE IRENE CAPEHART [DOB REDACTED]. An adult female (identified herein as “Victim”) was lying on the ground next to the vehicle screaming in pain.
Victim had been a passenger in CAPEHART’s vehicle. Victim was transported to the hospital for treatment, where she was diagnosed with a dislocated right hip and a fracture in her hip socket. An officer spoke to CAPEHART, who admitted to being the driver of the vehicle. The officer observed watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol on CAPEHART’s breath while speaking to her. The officer attempted to administer field-sobriety tests, but CAPEHART was unable to follow the officer’s instructions to perform the tests.
CAPEHART was evaluated by medics and taken to the hospital based on high blood sugar levels. An investigator obtained a warrant for a sample of CAPEHART’s blood, which was drawn on February 20, 2026, at 12:30 A.M. The sample was later analyzed at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and revealed a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.228. An investigator later took a statement from Victim, [NAME REDACTED] was a passenger in CAPEHART’s vehicle and that CAPEHART was the driver. They were coming from visiting a friend when the crash occurred.
