The Chrysler parked right outside the store’s entrance. Richards got out of the Chrysler’s front passenger seat and went inside the store. Thompson remained in the Chrysler’s driver’s seat. About 40 seconds after Richards entered the store a Chevrolet Trax pulled into the parking lot. The Trax parked 15 yards behind the Chrysler in the lot. An unidentified Black male wearing a blue jacket and jeans got out of the Trax’s rear driver’s side door and entered the store. Shataurus Dozier got out of the Trax’s front passenger seat, and Donnavin Dozier got out of the Trax’s driver’s seat.
The Doziers approached the store’s entrance as Richards exited. Shataurus Dozier was 15 feet ahead of his brother. Richards walked towards the Chrysler, then quickly spun and fired a gun at Donnavin Dozier. Donnavin Dozier spun and ran around the side of the store; Shataurus Dozier fled into the store. Donnavin Dozier started limping and bullet impacts appeared in the snow when Donnavin Dozier rounded the store’s corner. Richards continued to shoot at the Doziers as he ran towards the Dairy Queen and hid behind the side of Twins Meat & Market.
The unknown Black male in the blue jacket produced a handgun and crouched down sheltering inside the store. Thompson opened the Chrysler’s driver’s door, briefly emerged, and fired a handgun with an extended magazine in the direction of the store where Shataurus Dozier was and in the parking lot where Donnavin Dozier ran. Thompson got back into the Chrysler and began to drive it out of the parking lot heading toward the Dairy Queen.
